Early Sunday morning, Masterson returned to Tennessee despite promising the night before that he would meet with student leaders again.

The rest of the day was filled with multiple meetings, as student and faculty leaders planned their next moves. At the same time, the Thresher and the KOWL radio station ensured that the student body received the latest news of the crisis.

At a meeting between Warren Skaaren, fifteen faculty members, and Dean Gordon, the idea of holding a campus-wide opinion poll on the crisis was proposed. The plans were confirmed at a meeting of college presidents that evening.

Listen below to Skaaren announcing the plan to give a poll on KTRU radio:

At 10 P.M. that night, informational meetings were held in all of the residential colleges.
