Picard
Jean Picard (1620-1682) was an ordained Jesuit priest, professor of astronomy at the College de France, and a member of the Academie Royale de Sciences. He was the first to accurately compute the size of the Earth. One of his works, Traité du Nivellement was published in 1684, with an additional edition published in 1728.
