Ilê Omolu Oxum

Ilê Omolu Oxum is a terreiro (a candomblé temple) founded by Iyalorixá Mãe Meninazinha de Oxum in 1968. In 1988 the terreiro became a civil society in order to better engage and defend the rights of its neighboring communities, especially women, Black people, and the working classes. Since then, it has created projects to fight social injustice and discriminations. By offering professional training courses, Ilê Omolu e Oxum has also been fostering the economic development of the region. The terreiro also runs cultural activities such as offering Yorubá language courses, teaching African dances, and screening films.
