Ship manifest of 22 enslaved people

This manifest documents the forced departure of 31 enslaved people from New Orleans to Galveston aboard the Steamship "Galveston," which was captained by John T. Wright. The disembarkation was recorded as February 9, 1846 by the U.S. Customs House of the District of Mississippi.

This manifest lists 22 enslaved people who were boarded onto a steamship named Galveston which was captained by John T. Wright. These people were claimed as chattel property by a Samuel Mills of Texas. They embarked from New Orleans to Galveston on February 9, 1846. George, a 25 year old man who stood 5' 10" tall and was identified by his enslavers as Black
Charles, a 30 year old man who stood 5' 5" tall and was identified by his enslavers as Black
Armstead, a 50 year old man who stood 5' 9" tall and was identified by his enslavers as Black
Tonny, a 40 year old man who stood 6' tall and was identified as Black
Harrison, a 30 year old man who stood 5' 5" tall and was identified as Black
Ann, a 28 year old woman who stood 5' 5" tall and was identified as yellow
