The University Drag Scene

Thanks to groups like Gendermyn and college clubs like the Queers and Allies and Queer Resource Center (both at Rice University), the drag and genderfuck scene has expanded and snuggled in to many a university across the nation. Houston universities are no exception.

The Rice University Drag Show is traditionally held during Fall semester at the end of Pride Week and hosted by the Q&A.  This year the QRC is reaching out to Gendermyn to host the drag show.  All of the proceeds go to charity.

University of Houston’s LGBTQA+ club, Global, hosts a yearly drag show to benefit charity. In 2015, they hosted the event at Meteor Lounge, which closed in July 2016. The proceeds from the event benefited HATCH, a nonprofit that supports LGBTQA+ youths.
