At this meeting, Bari Kaplan and Greg White - two of the student members of the advisory committee - explained what their committee had done before the Masterson announcement, and confirmed that the Trustees had not consulted them about its decision. Student Association leaders and several college presidents also spoke about the situation, and announced plans to protest the appointment through a teach-in and march the next morning. After the student meeting adjourned, the crowd left the auditorium to wait outside of the Chemistry Building, where the faculty-wide meeting had not yet finished. When the meeting ended and the faculty began to exit, the crowd of students applauded them for passing the resolution protesting the Masterson appointment.
