Interview - Charles Yoshiyama

Charles-Louis Yoshiyama is a principal ballet dancer at Houston Ballet. Born August 29, 1989, in Hamamatsu in the state of Shizuoka, Yoshiyama has been dancing since he was about 5 years old. He grew up with his mother and his grandparents in Japan until he was fifteen when he moved to England to attend England National Ballet School. Through lots and lots of hard work, Yoshiyama worked hard to climb up the ranks and started in the Houston Ballet as an Apprentice, making his way up to principal dancer after eight years in Houston Ballet. He has lived in Japan and England and currently resides in Houston with his dog.
