Born and raised in Saigon, Vietnam, Tanya Truong came to Houston with her family at the age of 17 after the country fell to communism. She graduated from the University of Houston in 1988 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. Her first job after college was at a Chinese-owned computer company, where she worked mostly with Americans. She currently works as an accountant at Rose Electronics. She celebrates her Vietnamese heritage by attending the Vietnamese church and celebrating the Vietnamese New Year.
