Professor Cin-ty Lee is a professor of geology in the Department of Earth, Environmental, and Planetary Sciences at Rice University. Professor Lee was born in Taiwan but quickly moved to Riverside, California, a rural area with very few Asians at the time. He completed his undergraduate studies at UC Berkeley, and, following in the footsteps of his father, became a geologist. He maintains his interests in art and birdwatching and hopes to be a mentor to students on campus who have faced discrimination.
