Sulekh Jain was born in 1937, in a small village in India. He was raised in a Jain household, and to this day Jainism remains a major part of his life. He attended college in India, where he earned a B.S. and M.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering, then moved to England in 1965 to earn his Ph.D. He has worked in Berkeley, CA; Worcester, MA; Cincinnati, OH; and now currently lives in Houston, TX. He has two children, a son and a daughter, who both work in the medical field, as well as two granddaughters. In his retirement he remains active in the Jain community.
