Interview - Michelle Tran

Michelle Tran was born in Saigon, Vietnam in 1960. She left Vietnam at the age of 15 with her mother, three brothers, and one sister, a month before the Fall of Saigon. She immediately went to a military camp in Guam for about a month before finally moving to the United States. Once in the United States, she lived in Queens, New York for three years and attended high school there. Her first job was as a newspaper girl, distributing newspapers and collecting money. In 1978, she got married and moved to two different places because of her husband's job in two years (Chicago and New Orleans). She finally moved to Houston in 1980 and has been living here ever since. She currently works as a social worker at Boat People SOS.
